Silent Slogan is an ongoing research, bringing today 50 postal cards together. Upon each card’s frontside is a a black and white photograph showing a gesture. The backsides contextualize the images that are collected on the Internet.
Silent Slogan shows some collective, codified gestures shared since 2010 in public spaces (demonstrations, public gatherings, the internet, etc.). Easy to do, these ordinary gestures find a strong meaning in a certain context and time. They are leading to the possibility of a dialog when it otherwise seems impossible.
« The idea of photography as a democratic tool is at play here, but I can also see a reflection about the repetition of history, its non-linear movement. Interestingly, it is not an idealistic work, as you might first think, about the collective gesture as empowerment and a tool of expression at the service of positive values. Reactionary gestures are represented as well as progressive revendications.
